News: Italy to press ahead with F-35B

The Italian Navy has confirmed that it intends to procure the F-35B STOVL Joint Strike Fighter.

October 28: The Italian Navy has confirmed that it intends to procure the F-35B Short Take-Off and Landing (STOVL) Joint Strike Fighter despite the UK’s recent rejection of the variant in favour of the conventional carrier-based F-35C.

Italy plans to acquire 22 F-35Bs between 2014 and 2021, which will operate from the aircraft carrier Cavour from 2016.
